Brake’s 'Driving for Zero' campaign calls on the government to bring in a zero-tolerance approach to drink and drug driving.
We need zero tolerance laws. This includes making it an offence to drive with any illegal drugs in your body, and an effective zero-tolerance drink drive limit of 20mg alcohol per 100ml blood, in line with the fact that even small amounts of alcohol increase crash risk.
We also need zero tolerance enforcement, including roadside drug screening, more traffic police to test for drink and drugs on a much wider scale and powers for the police to conduct random testing so more drivers are stopped and tested.
Drink and drug driving remains one of the biggest killers on our roads. Each death and injury caused by drink and drug drivers causes untold pain to families and communities. This needless carnage has to stop.
You can help. Write to your MP and ask them to push for a zero-tolerance approach to drink and/or drug driving.
